Designed for you. While piano is our specialty, we also offer lessons in voice, guitar, ukulele, drums, and songwriting.

Practice makes… learning more fun.

Practice recommendations based on age/level:

  • Ages 5-7 OR Primer Level: 5-10 mins or more 5 days/week

  • Ages 8-10 OR Levels 1-2: 10-15 mins or more 5 days/week

  • Ages 11+ OR Levels 3+: 15-25 mins or more 5 days/week. With added time based on pursuits.

Learning an instrument is an exercise for both the body and the brain, and both (positive) repetition and pattern recognition are key. These are skills that translate to many other aspects of life, and a vital part of our brain-based approach.

Students will progress at a rate that is directly correlated to how much effort they put in at home. However, we also don’t want piano to feel like a chore. There may be periods of time when practice does not meet the above guidelines, and that’s okay! Communication between student/family/instructor is how we figure out what’s best for each kid.

Ideas for home: visual timers, performances for family/friends, sticker charts, combining practice with an already established routine, or pivoting to a piece that resonates (while we teach from a classical approach, we do have arrangements for everything from Star Wars to pop artists to K Pop Demon Hunters). And, always, making a solid plan with your teacher each week.
