Piano

Rosey Piano School does not take a quick how to approach to piano lessons, but instead fosters a life-long relationship with music, critical thinking, and creativity.

Lessons consist of work in music theory, technique, ear training, and artistry. Students are encouraged to learn whatever music speaks to them, and we are equipped to arrange most songs to an appropriate learning level. While the history of music and classical pedagogy is valued and taught, we also embrace all genres as well as student songwriting.

Instruction is taken from many methods, but the Faber curriculum is used most often.

A lesson plan is tailor-made for each student based upon their goals, abilities, and personal connection to music. Additionally, students learn about classical composers, pop & jazz chord progressions, and the social aspects that make music so dynamic.

A piano or keyboard at home is strongly recommended, though we will never turn anyone away for lack of an instrument! Student success directly correlates to how much time they put into their craft in between lessons. It’s recommended for students to play most days of the week (if only for 10 minutes) to strengthen muscle memory and engagement.

Voice

Voice lessons are designed on an entirely individualized basis. Heavy emphasis is placed upon ear training and solfege, as well as basic piano skills. Covered topics include proper posture and breathing technique, pitch matching, phrasing, finding confidence in one’s given range, music theory, and performance practice.

While not genre specific, we encourage healthy and sustainable singing—our voices are a part of our bodies, after all!

Please inquire for more information and what your ideal voice lesson might look like.
